Nature Journaling, Sat. July 13, 9am – 12pm at the Santa Fe Botanical Garden.
The outing will be led by artists Lynn Grimes and Monica O’Keefe, and is limited to 15 people. Register at https://forms.gle/Xh5svbzQnuRQoc4XA or by replying to this email if Google Forms doesn’t work for you. The garden is located at 715 Camino Lejo on Museum Hill. Parking is free. We will meet at the entrance to the garden, near the visitor center. For this one time, there will be no admission charge to the garden, but they would appreciate any donations (there will be a place to put donations), and if you’re not already a member, then consider joining the garden (https://santafebotanicalgarden.org/).
We’ll talk about nature journaling, show some examples, and share some books on the topic. Then we’ll wander the garden to choose spots to do some journaling. The scope of nature journaling is pretty wide open — it can be sketching with pencil and/or ink, applying color with watercolor paints or colored pencils or even crayons, and making notes about the location (the weather, the plants, the birds, the insects). You can have more sketches or more notes, whatever interests you the most at that time and location.

Please bring some of the following, whatever you like to use or have on hand. Keep your kit as small as possible, for simplicity of moving around!
– a notebook or sketch pad, unlined paper is best for sketching
– pencil, pen, markers, colored pencils, and/or watercolors
– something to sit on if you like, although there are some benches in the garden.
