The infamous dust storms and flashing warning lights along I-10 in Southern New Mexico cost the state millions in mitigation, transportation delays and tragic accidents. A group of “Dustafarians” were determined to find sustainable, lower cost solutions to address desertification and dust through restoring natural systems, adjusting land management and healing the watershed. Mike Gaglio, owner of High Desert Native Plants in El Paso, Texas, will tell the story of this fascinating and innovative, multi-agency partnership to restore the Lordsburg Playa.
