The winner of the 2022 student grant award, Alicia Marmelejo, will present the results of her research:  The invasion of Camphorweed (Heterotheca subaxillaris) into the Holy Land.


Alicia is currently working toward her master’s degree at New Mexico State University as a graduate student in the Molecular Biology & Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Graduate Program.  Under the advice of Dr. Sara Fuentes-Soriano, she is studying the genomics of plant invasion using the Chihuahuan Desert native Heterotheca subaxillaris as a model system.


In-person meeting in the classroom adjacent to the NMSU Herbarium on the NMSU campus in the Biology Annex at 3080 Williams Street. Free parking north and south of the Annex after 4:30 pm.
