Join us for a plant walk. Railroad Canyon & Upper Gallinas Campground, Gila National Forest, West of Hillsboro, NM.
We’ll be carpooling to Railroad Canyon in the Black Range where it’s at least 20 degrees cooler than in Las Cruces (2-hour drive) for a 1–2-mile plant walk with stops along the way including the Emory Pass Overlook.
We will meet at 8:00 am in the former K-Mart parking lot at 1900 Bataan Memorial East frontage road. If you would like to carpool as a driver or rider, or if you plan to drive independently, please email Ken Steigman, klmecsteigman [at] gmail [dot] com.
The trail is relatively level, but there are several rocky stream crossings and some uneven ground, so please bring hiking poles, along with hats, water, snacks, and your lunch (Waiver required)
