Meet at the junction of Highway 82 and North Florida Ave. in Alamogordo at 9:00 am. Be prepared to car pool in high clearance vehicles. We will drive slowly up La Luz Canyon learning about Merriam’s Life Zones, where elevation and aspect effects can be observed in the vegetation ranging from desert scrub up into Hudsonian zone forests. We will be getting in and out of the vehicles at stops along the way. Linda Barker will lead this trip. Bring water, lunch, sunscreen, hiking shoes for safety.
