Saturday, March 12th at 9 a.m. Field Trip: Tour of Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park with Alex Mares

Alex Mares will lead an educational tour through the Bosque with special emphasis on Yerba Mansa and medicinal native plants.

Attendees should not leave the group without informing the leader(s) of the field trip. People will be required to sign a release from liability before joining the walk. No dogs or pets allowed as per State Park rules.  Children must be accompanied by their parents.

Meet at the Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park Visitors’ Center; the tour will begin at 9 a.m. Parking fee $5. Bring water, snacks, good walking shoes or boots. Trip will end before noon.

Alex Mares, of Dine and Mexican-American Heritage, is a thirty-two-year Park Ranger Interpreter with both Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and New Mexico State Parks. Alex was raised with, studied, and used both native and non-native plants. He has contributed to literature pertaining to the effects of global warming and other human impacts on the natural environment.
