Dr. Esteban Muldavin, Director of Natural Heritage New Mexico at UNM, will speak about the research monitoring that his program has been conducting on riparian vegetation communities in the Albuquerque reach.
He will talk about what we have learned about cottonwood forest decline, exotic species incursions, and a benchmark case study, the Albuquerque Overbank Project, that looked at plant responses to a “natural-processes approach” to river restoration. He will then follow with a discussion of a vision for the future for the river ecosystem in the proposed Middle Rio Grande Conservation Action Plan.
There are two attendance options:
- In-Person: UNM Continuing Ed Building, Room C, 7:00 PM (1634 University Blvd NE) Masks are optional. Food and drink are welcome.
- You can join NPSNM’s Zoom Meeting by computer or phone after 6:50 p.m.
