Saturday, July 2, 9:30 a.m. to Noon: Tree Walk at SMU Campus (Fort Burgwin) with Dr. John Ubelaker

Dr. John Ubelaker, professor emeritus at Southern Methodist University and a long-time member of Taos/NPSNM, will lead a Tree Walk on the SMU campus at Fort Burgwin. John has conducted this walk several times in past years and regales attendees with examples of interesting natural history of the trees (interested in the sex-life of trees anyone?) and other flora on the campus. You will definitely come away with a great appreciation of the flora in the Transition Zone where the campus resides. The Transition Zone is one of 6 life zones in New Mexico, found between 6,000-8,000 feet elevation and characterized by several dominant plants and some invasive species.

Meet in front of the dining hall on the SMU/Fort Burgwin campus, Hwy 518, 6.7 miles south of NM 68/518 intersection.
