About The Native Plant Society of New Mexico (NPSNM)
NPSNM is a non-profit organization founded in the summer of 1976. It is joined by similar organizations in many other states and countries, recognizing the importance of native flora to the biodiversity of every region.
Our Mission
The Native Plant Society of New Mexico strives to educate the public about native plants by promoting knowledge of plant identification, ecology, and uses; fostering plant conservation and the preservation of natural habitats; supporting botanical research; and encouraging the appropriate use of native plants to conserve water, land, and wildlife.
We have six chapters widely scattered over New Mexico and one in El Paso, Texas, that work locally to support our mission. Chapters conduct regular field trips to explore native vegetation and invite guest speakers to share their knowledge at monthly meetings. Many chapters sponsor annual native plant sales, seed exchanges, and workshops.

We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, and all donations, including membership dues, are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by current law. With or without becoming a member, you can support native flora, environmental education, and habitat conservation with a Donation to our Carter Conservation Fund.
When you join the NPSNM, you select a chapter affiliation and receive information from the chapter, including announcements of meetings, field trips, and other related events. You also receive the quarterly NPSNM Newsletter, featuring original articles on the flora of New Mexico, conservation reports, chapter activities, and more.
